Farewell unattended

Farewell unattended

It's a rather hurried packing up of things,
Objects scattered around, seek to be unscrambled.
Some reek of dust and rot;
Some hold in fragrant notes here
Here, where it settles along the crevices,
 of a bend or a fold.
I pick these up, with delicate fingers,
and place them in an angled manner.
A white shawl folded into a square,
a flower carved wooden earring that has lost its pair,
A sculpture of lost lovers knotted in embrace
And a white pebble
with Shakespeare's doodling..
surprisingly worthy of praise.

I sigh, I sit, I've had to be so brave,
The lampshade throws around a delicate hue,
And an arch of memory glows in here;
The smiles, those tales,
the warmth held in snuggles,
the hazy vows made
And  the bickerings of bitter days...
It all floats and sways in this golden shade.
The lamp switched off,
I clip my suitcase shut.
With the door closed behind me,
I now, move ahead...
